kurukshetra : The department of tourism and hotel management with the Buddhist Forum , Yamuna Nagar organized a heritage awareness program focussing on Buddhist tourism in Haryana at Kurukshetra University .
The purpose of the program was to inform young student about the culture heritage of Haryana, particularly the Buddhist heritage. On this occasion, a documentary on “Dhammachhetra” prepared by The Buddhist Forum was screened.
Lt. Gen (rtd.) Dr. DDS Sandhu vice chancellor of Kurukshetra university was the chief guest of the program, while Vijai Vardhan , financial commissioner and principal secretary , Goverment of Haryana was the special invitee .
In his presidential address, Sandhu stressed on the heritage conservation and lauded the efforts of the organizers in bringing the Buddhist heritage of Haryana of Haryana to the limelight. He pointed out the people that people of Haryana are unaware about of the Buddhist heritage of Haryana. There was the need to nature this heritage and link it with tourism. He assured of cooperation in conservation of stupas.
Prof. S.S Boora, chairman, Department of tourism and hotel management welcomed the delegated and spoke about the relevance of the program. In his welcome address Prof. Boora stressed on furthering the cause of heritage conservation.
After the address of the chief guest, a documentary film titled Dhammachhetra – The Lost Land of Buddha was screened. The film was appreciated by the audiences and evoked good response. The special invitee Vijai Vardhan, highlighted cultural traditions of Haryana and asked for the more work on the heritage.
